Worn down leather on the toe and heel of my favourite pair of shoes. The brass garage door handle that has gone shiny from years of anticipated turning after long days at work. Freckles on my shoulders from favouring the patio at the neighbourhood pub. Small and beautiful molded moments that represent my unique existence in this life.
And yet, as I watch my favourite film; the first movie you took me to, I see flashes across the screen. As I walk through the valley where you taught me to drive, I hear sounds off in the distance. Flashes and sounds of our lives together; flashes and sounds of the pain you caused me when you left. My vision is forever altered by you, my hearing will not forget your voice. For better or for worse, I did not choose these alterations, I did not mold them overtime. All that you were, and all that you will be, yet my love for it grows, for the Patina of it all.
